Clive Running Fest 10k: June 13, 2015
Clive Running Fest and I go way back, well back to 2011 when I started running again. I stumbled into the Beginner Running Group that spring which is lead by Curt and Nancy Hoegh. They were also the race directors of Clive Running Fest, which they encouraged everyone to run. So Clive was my first official 5k race. And I’ve been doing it ever since. I do switch off between the 5k and 10k distance depending upon my health. Last year I was just barely allowed to run post stress fracture so I only did the 5k. This year I am healthy and stepped up to the 10k despite having run Dam to Dam a couple weeks prior and barely running after that race. Overall, I ran well. I hit a new PR in my 10k, which everyone keeps telling me is hard to do on the Clive course because of the hills on the street portion of the course. The trail portion is where we run for the Monday night group. It’s flat and permanently embedded in my brain. Perhaps that is why I almost always PR when I run Clive.
